So I took a break from my project today to go Downtown and see the "Really Really Democratic Bazaar." I was not disappointed. The whole thing was pretty laid back with free food from various sources, people doing artwork, making and selling tee-shirts, two stages of music and spoken word. There was a boxing ring to beat up on blow-up doll, weeble like things of either George W or Kerry. The parading of the 70 foot spine-puppet was amusing. It was also at the People's Party in JP on Sunday, but I didn't get to see it paraded that night. There were Radical Queer cheerleaders, and of course some direct action, non violent resistance type workshops. If I had stayed longer I could have joined a knitting circle.
The amusing is what happened whenever the police helicopter flew by. Most people gave the copter the finger, but some people raised peace signs. There was a pile of horse shit in the grass (such is life on the Common), with a sign pointing at it saying "courtesy of the pigs." Several Kucinich delegates showed up to check out the Bazaar, and I thought it was nice that even a few delegates showed up.
Walking around did help the raging headache that I've had since yesterday, but it seems to be back since I got home. I took a walk to the Gardens, and watched some of the ducklings. In one group I saw my first yellow duck! I have always wondered why ducks are portrayed as yellow, as I had never in my life seen a yellow duck. But yes, they do apparently exist. :)
