Been a busy, tiring, happy week. :)

Had my storytime debut on Wednesday. It went better than any of the sessions I had done with my four-year-olds at the school. I had a nice size group (about 6 kids) who were paying very rapt attention as were the caregivers. When I finished my planned program they asked for one more story before the craft, and then most of the caregivers wanted to do the craft as well. :)

Then I went home to make my ice cream cone cupcakes:

for [livejournal.com profile] empress42's Dinner of Confusion the next night. They came out fairly well (though I would change a few things next time), but we learned fairly quickly that they do not transport well once you've frosted them. Sigh. We also learned that the cherry jar's idea of "about" 24 cherries is in fact, 15. Hence why five cupcakes are without cherries.

Thursday's dinner of confusion was fun. Much confusing food, and I was quite enamored of the things that looked like spongecakes with fudge sauce (shaped like teddy bears and bunnies) that were actually black bean stuffed cornbread with mole sauce. The dessert sushi was incredible, and I am continually in awe of Carolyn's abilities with chocolate and other fancy desserts.

Friday was hectic. A program in the morning, a stint on the info desk, and then it was time to take my Mom out for a B-day lunch at the nice restaurant at the library. Then, then I got to do my first (of four between now and November) pirate program...

This one was pirate crafts. We did design-your-own pirate flags, personal treasure chests, newspaper hats, color-your-own bookmarks, and comic strips. I was expecting a group of 20 kids who had asked to come, but it wound up being a good thing they didn't show. Over the course of the program I had 15 kids and about 4 parents actively involved. It was supposed to be a one hour program, but it lasted almost two hours and only ended because we had to close the library! So maybe I do know what I'm doing after all. ;)

We skipped Friday's potluck dinner, but I managed to get to [livejournal.com profile] empress42's Defenestration party last night in my sleepy state. Much fun and defenestrations occurred. We even had a meta-defenestration were we threw a copy of Windows out the window (and later part of the window itself...oops).

So if you are still with me...

I have been remiss until now, for not knowing about the singer Jonathan Coulton (thank you Jesse). Particularly this song (trust me on this).

I ran into Mom after you two ate lunch. Turned out we both took the same train home, so we had a nice chat at Starbucks (without buying anything) ;d

Oh, an dnext time you want to throw a copy of Windows out the window, please make sure that I am standing outside this window... ;p
