Okay, I am a sweatty mess right now. I went down to the basement at 11am this morning, to find a pipe blubbing water every ten seconds or so. It smelled a little, but not too bad. I figured this was a BAD THING. I had Dan call the plumber, and we were told that they would come between 2 and 4. I thought that seemed a little far away for this kind of situation, but I accepted it. Along around 3pm, we realized that the water was now going continuously and it really smelled down there. We called them back at 4, and were told that they'd send the next available guy, who didn't come until 6. When he got here, he told us that this was a huge mess, and we should have told them it was an EMERGENCY and they would have sent someone right away. Now, we have several inches of raw sewage in our basement. We did say it was an emergency, we just didn't use that particular word (I believe Dan said "as soon as humanly possible). Apparently, the message came to the guy as "sewage smell." Oy. so, now we're waiting on the drain crew (could be a couple hours). No one in the building can use any water. The new renters are currently moving in upstairs.
And, I was about to take a shower when this all started. Grrrrr. Don't even ask how I smell or feel right now.
