So my illness finally broke for good (desperately crossing fingers) yesterday morning. While I am still a little dizzy, I can now use the computer for normal amounts of time and actually get my schoolwork done. This is a huge relief, because I had visions of having to drop out of school so close to finishing, and another round of months of bed rest. I'm not completely healthy yet, but I can go back to my normal routine, and that's enough for me. :)

In other news...

Tonight I have the first of 3(?) workshops with middleschoolers(?) teaching them to be storytellers! I hope kids show up.... ;) Wish me luck, and I'll post about how it goes.

Last night Dan received the first of his acceptance letters for the PhD programs. We were very surprised, because he had been told not to expect to hear anything until March at the earliest. Anyway, he has been accepted into Northeastern with full tuition and a minimum yearly stipend of ~$15,000! This is about the best package he could have hoped to get! He is thrilled, and I think they must really want him pretty badly. Now we have to wait to hear from the big gun schools, but this alone would make him very happy.

Stipends seem to be different for every subject, but if CS is anything like Neuroscience, he can probably do even better than 15k at some universities. The Brandeis Neuroscience dept. pays $23,500, but its the second highest in MA (after only MIT) and probably the highest dept. stipend at Brandeis. Obviously getting full tuition with a stipend that covers one's living expenses is the most important thing though :-). Please congratulate Dan for me.

I will. :) 15k was the minimum they offered him. Since his appointment has not been settled, it could rise from there. Hmmm, we thought that was about the highest around...maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised with some of the other offers.
