I'm in the middle of hell week as far as school is concerned. I decided to order a book through my local public library rather than deal with the copy on reserve at school (too many distractions and people coming over to talk, plus I've spent too much money photocopying). I ordered it on Wednesday, but it didn't arrive by Friday (and they don't deliver on Sat). So I had to take time I didn't have to go to the library this morning. Good thing I did!

So it turns out that my local branch library will be holding a program in the next couple of months for school kids to learn to be story tellers. Better than that, they asked if I would help out in the workshops! It's really amazing where chatting and smalltalk with people in your field can get you. This is a result of talking to one of the pre-pro people I see a lot about the sheer amount of work I have due this week. I told her a couple of weeks ago about the story I have to do for class on Wed, and she remembered, so when the program idea showed up, she asked the branch manager (who knows me for more professional reasons) if she could ask me to participate. I was really just chatting, not trying to network! :)

And now back to our regularly scheduled paper writing...
