So I have returned from this year's AnimeFest. For those who don't know, it is a 24-hour party that my husband's friends started hosting back in high school. This was year 12. :) I am now completely addicted to the video game PacMan vs., where you get to play the ghosts as well as Pac Man. Played some old Atari games on someone's setup. Feels nice to be playing video games again, unlike last year where I had tendonitis. I still suck royally at Foosball though.
Not too too much anime this year. Watched Interstella 5555, and experience which only works in a large group of rowdy guys. Or maybe if I were drunk/stoned. One of the two. Only really notable anime experience of the party. Around 5:30am, we screened Kaiju Big Battel which is done by some of my neighbors here in JP. They make these crazy foam rubber suits of monsters, or giant sandwiches and battle it out like Godzilla and Mothra in a ring. I'll have to tell them. I think they will be amused.
One of the great things about this party is that so many of Dan's friends are creative types. We screened some of Colin's animation, as well as the mini-documentary about the Kamikaze Gallery he was running back in Buffulo before moving to Cali. (And yes, the gallery really lived up to its name. I think it was a good thing they disbanded before someone was killed accidentally.) Rob showed some of his photography, which is looking very professional these days.
I have caught up on sleep and real food enough to satisify my body and be pretty alert. These are great, but I'm glad they are only once a year.
