Jen got me good. I mean really good. I sent her an email last week giving her a run down on the events of recent months since haven't talked in a while. I mentioned kids along the way. She wrote me back, and one of the things she said was "funny you should mention kids..." and then dropped the subject. she talked about her job and stuff, and then told me she was getting married to her longtime bf Patrick.
Okay, so naturally I assumed that she was pregnant. The way that she told me, I was certain of it. I also admit that I was a little upset to be told of the marriage that way. It felt like they had been engaged for a while, and I was only just finding out. She said she would call me on Sunday (today). So, wanting to be tactful and let her tell me herself, I sent a simple email just saying congrats.
She called today and told me that I "totally didn't get it." It was all a big joke like the kind we play on each other when we haven't spoken in a long time. I often tell her that I've had 3 kids in the 6 months since we last talked, that kind of thing. But the way she did it, I was totally taken in.
Good joke. I'm impressed.
Plus I'm glad it's not true. No marriage, no baby. All good.
