Okay, so it's been a long time since I've written. I've had a hell of a semester that is only just winding down. My last class is a week from today, and I still have about 16 full hours of work to get done before then. But I *think* I can do it.

I had a really great experience in class today. I am taking an oral history class, and I have been interviewing some of the plaintiff couples involved with the "Goodridge v. Department of Public Health" case (the gay marriage case). THe first interview I did back at the end of March, and my professor only played about 2 minutes total for the class. That really disappointed me, because everyone else gets about 5 minutes of their interview played. Today more than made up for though...

Last week I interviewed Hillary and Julie Goodridge. It was a great interview, about an hour and a half long. They had agreed to do this back in January, but it took that long to get something scheduled. It has wonderful information and stories, but I really need to do a follow-up interview to get to the stuff I couldn't in that time (we had time constraints that day). It obviously won't happen during this course.

In class, my professor asked me to set up the interview, giving the context. That took about 7 minutes as everyone kept asking me questions. He played 5 minutes from the middle of the interview, after which people asked me more questions. He said that we'd take a break and come back to my interview. After the break, he played 10 minutes from the beginning of the interview (including the really incredible story surrounding the birth of their daughter). No one else has had that much class time for a single interview. He said that the birth story is one of those stories that you remember where you were when you first heard it! THat is incredibly high praise from this man. :)

So now I've spent about 2 hours doing an interview contents sheet for about 30 minutes of interview. Slow going, but really worth it in the end, and SOOOO much better than doing a transcript.
